This wedding was the perfect way for me to kick off my truly busy season! A relaxed & laid back couple, surrounded by loving family, who worked so hard on giving them a perfect day.
The day started at the gorgeous Jacksonville salon, The Hair Company. Their salon was open, with plenty of room for all of the ladies. Their white, metallic and crystal decor style was so pretty and all of the ladies there were so kind. I HIGHLY recommend them for any of my West Central Illinois brides looking for a hair stylist/makeup artist. We then headed to the wedding venue/reception hall, Wankel’s in Petersburg. Petersburg is my hometown, so no Google Maps needed for me this day! Wankel’s originally started holding events for family and friends & have now ventured into the world of wedding receptions! Hannah & Cody got ready on site and then we traveled to New Salem, for their first look.
I LOVE New Salem! And not just for portraits, my husband and I visited here many times before kids and we can’t wait to someday (hopefully soon) bring our kids to visit. But yes, it also makes for a beautiful backdrop for portraits. I love everything about a first look. There is so much anticipation and excitement, then just pure joy. Hannah & Cody were no exception!
After their first look, which was perfect I might add, we went right into Bride & Groom portraits. The bridal party came just a bit later and we got all the photos in we needed. So, here is where I will mention how Hannah’s Grandmother was her Matron of Honor. Does it really get any sweeter than that?? I mean, how many young 20 something girls choose their grandmother for their wedding party. It is just a true testament to how important family is and how close these two are. Sweet little Carter, Hannah & Cody’s son, made a cameo, with the cutest little sign! And when it was time for just adult bridal party photos & no one was left to take care of Carter, the mom in me kicked in and I just picked him up, while directing and taking photos! Most moms know though that multitasking and doing things one handed, while holding kids, is pretty much the norm. So, no biggie!
Hannah & Cody, thank you for allowing me to play a role in your wedding. I loved watching your little family form and of course I think your little one is just the CUTEST! Life won’t always be the easiest, but the 3 of you have all you need to make it through. I wish you guys all the happiness and a long life together.
XOXO- Megan
